MILBRANDT VINEYARDS
Traditions 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Washington State
Washington State is one of those rare places on earth capable of producing great wines from both warm- and cool-climate varieties. Our mild climate, large diurnal temperature swings and extended sunlight hours during the summer months allow grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. We also have a mix of ancient and young soils that bring character and personality to all of our wines. Our Traditions Sauvignon Blanc features fruit from our south-facing, estate Northridge Vineyard located in the Wahluke Slope AVA.
Sauvignon Blanc has finally emerged from the shadow of Chardonnay. In the old days, many wineries tried to disguise the heady varietal character of the grape with oak and lees. Today, most producers are looking to accentuate the unmistakable signature of the grape.
Our Sauvignon Blanc leans more towards fresh fruit rather than the herbal flavors found in some renditions. The nose delivers melons, apples, mangos, oranges and kiwis. The palate is clean, bright, fresh, lively and crisp. There are few beverages more refreshing than a cold glass of young Sauvignon Blanc.
