In 1997, the Milbrandt family began planting vineyards in the Eastern Washington AVAs of the Columbia Valley and Wahluke Slope. At first glance, Eastern Washington is not your typical wine country. It’s a remote, windswept, high desert largely defined by centuries of glacial flooding. The ancient Missoula Floods were cataclysmic events that swept across Eastern Washington and down the Columbia River Valley, depositing large glacial rock and sediment along the way. You can find evidence of the intensity of these floods throughout our vineyards, as well as in our wines -- deep concentration, defined minerality, and smooth, balanced structure. Today, under the watchful eye of winemaker Joshua Maloney, Milbrandt Vineyards handcrafts award-winning wines from across the 2,000 acres of our renowned estate vineyards.
